As well as operating nationally, the CMF encourages its members to form geographical branches. There are currently two branches:
- CMF North West
- CMF Wales
On 6 December 2011 the CMF Executive adopted the following guidance for CMF branches:
- Geographical coverage
- Branches should aim for a natural region in terms of travel and identity.
- The CMF Executive will determine geographical boundaries if there is a dispute with a neighbouring region.
- Membership
- All branch members must be currently paid up Conservative Party members in possession of a Party membership card.
- All branch members are automatically members of CMF nationally.
- Branch joining forms should state this and contain appropriate Data Protection Act statements. Please send draft joining forms to Shaheen Mahmood so that she can have them approved for compliance with the Party’s requirements.
- Branch administrators must supply lists of members and their email addresses to CMF nationally.
- Supporters
- Branches may have Registered Supporters, who are not Party members and therefore cannot be branch members.
- Registered supporters may not vote in Branch elections and cannot be Branch officers or members of the Branch executive committee.
- Purpose of CMF Branches
- To achieve the objectives of the CMF as set out in the CMF constitution.
- To connect local CMF members to build team spirit.
- To organise local events and local fundraising for the branch, and for the Party more generally.
- To facilitate local campaigning for the Party.
- Branch leadership
- This should be elected by the Branch members using a secret ballot.
- The CMF Executive will arbitrate any disputes regarding Branch elections.
- One member of branch executive should be nominated to serve on CMF National Executive and to act as conduit for communications.
- Connection with CMF nationally
- Each Branch is an integral part of the national CMF.
- Branches should supply regular reports to CMF nationally of local activity.
- Branches must supply financial information when requested by the CMF Treasurer for consolidation into CMF’s national accounts.
- Integration with local Party machinery
- The Branch leadership should encourage members to integrate into the local Party machinery.
- Branch members are encouraged to stand for local Party roles.
